Kristin Cavallari Grateful for Support Over Broken Engagement

Kristin Cavallari won't have her spring wedding after all. The former star of "The Hills" has broken up with Chicago Bears quarterback fiance Jay Cutler just a week after celebrating their engagement with a party. Soon after news of the broken engagement made media headlines, she wrote on Twitter, "Thanks for the support. Love u guys." 

Words are, it was Jay who pulled the plug on the engagement. A source told PEOPLE that Kristin "got dumped". The source added, "She's absolutely devastated. She can't believe this is happening. She was planning her dream wedding, the date was set, the location - everything was set. She's in shock that the dream wedding she was planning is going to end this way." 

It is still unconfirmed what may have caused the split, but X17 Online reported that it may have something to do with the bickering between their parents. "Jay and his family were making fun of Kristin's dad's height a lot, and she got sick of it," a source said. "That combined with a few other compatibility issues, lead them to break off the engagement." 

Kristin herself was seen without her engagement ring when enjoying a night out at The Beverly lounge in Los Angeles on Saturday night, July 23. To PEOPLE, a source dished on, "She was hanging out at a table with Nicky Hilton and Alessandra Ambrosio. She was telling friends how they called off the engagement." 

Kristin and Jay have been together for 8 months when the NFL star proposed to her during a vacation in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico in April. The twosome threw a party to celebrate their engagement last Saturday, July 17. Afterward, 24-year-old Kristin tweeted, "Thx to all my amazing friends for making my engagement party a blast last night!"
